Tips about the area from Anita van Schooten
Are you looking for tips about tourism in the area? In addition to the information at our own reception the staff at Tourist Info/VVV in Hellendoorn and Nijverdal are happy to help you. Here she will share her personal tips about this region with you.
What is your connection to this region, and what makes it worth a visit?
"I was born and raised in Nijverdal, that creates a strong bond. Hellendoorn is the place I go to exercise, which is why I know many people there too. What makes Salland worth a visit for me is primarily the Sallandse Heuvelrug. From my house I can walk into the Sallandse Heuvelrug in five minutes. I love it! I do that very often. On Saturdays I often go to the weekly market in Nijverdal to buy fruits and vegetables."
What does your ideal day off in Salland look like?
"If I can advise people on what to do during their holiday here, I would definitely recommend to take a walk or bicycle ride through our beautiful Sallandse Heuvelrug. It combines well with a visit to the Outdoor Center. A boat trip on the Regge with the "Zomp" boat "de Schuttevaer" is also not to be missed. And if the weather is really nice, swimming pool het Ravijn in Nijverdal is a great place to spend an afternoon."
What should definitely not be missed by our visitors?
"When the weather is not se great, the Memory Museum in Nijverdal, and Gerrit Valk's Bakery and Ice Cream Museum are great places to go. For groups of people who would like to do a sporting activity I recommend the Wilgenweard, and for people with small children we have Ballorig, an indoor playground for children. In short: our municipality has something for everyone who wants to have a wonderful holiday!"
